Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting our website and for showing interest in the Bitkom Research GmbH.

We value the protection and safety of data provided by our customers and users. That is why we have designed our website and business processes in a way to collect and process the least amount of personal data as possible.

The following privacy policy will elaborate on what information we collect during your visit on our website and how we potentially use respective parts of it.

Personal data

We do not collect personal data, for example, name, address, phone number, or e-mail unless you volunteer to submit such information, e.g., in conjunction with a newsletter subscription, online applications, or the contact form. We use the data you voluntarily submit solely for the purpose for which they were disclosed. We use your data for additional offers or marketing purposes only if you have given us explicit consent to do so.

Default data

Our servers will never record your entire IP address or the domain name of the device you use during your visit on our website. The server configuration prevents the automatic logging of information needed for individual identification. Therefore, no personal data can be stored on our servers.

However, it is possible that a so-called ‘log file’ is started for fault analysis in cases of fraud or server errors. This file records the IP address, the specific webpage accessed on our server, potentially the site from which you reached us (link source), the browser ID, as well as the system date and time when the site was accessed. We use this data only to analyse the issue and will immediately delete it from our servers after we fixed the problem. We cannot associate the log data to a person.

Technical control – cookies

Our site uses so-called ‘cookies’. These files simplify and accelerate your visit on our website. You can deactivate the use of cookies in your browser settings if you do not wish that our site stores cookies on your device or you can change the browser setting to be informed if a site uses cookies.

More information can be found here and here.

Tracking via Google Analytics

When you visit our websites, we will transmit data to our service provider Google Inc. in the context of Google Analytics. Google Analytics is configured to transmit your IP address to Google anonymously (anonymizeIP). Google processes the usage data from your visit to our website on our behalf to compile site activity reports. We use these reports to evaluate your interest in our offers and improve them accordingly.

You can install a browser add-on by visiting this link to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics.

We have implemented extensive technical and operational measures to protect data about your person stored on our servers from unauthorised access and misuse. We periodically review and update our security procedures to reflect current technological development. Our employees are obliged to treat all information confidentially.

Links to other websites

By opening links on our website that forward you to third-party sites (external links), external providers might receive information from your browser detailing the internet site which redirected you. The external provider is responsible for this data. We, like any other web site operator, have no control over this process.

Additional information

Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions, for example, regarding the data we store on your person. Please refer to the imprint for the respective contact details. Through these channels, we also fulfil your legal right of access.
